The house rules, written down properly
These terms cover using our website, booking tables, and sitting at a Joysola poker table. The spirit is simple: treat the venue and each other well, and we'll do the same by you.
01 Accepting these terms
By browsing joysola.com, booking a table, or buying into a poker night, you accept these terms. If something here doesn't sit right with you, the honest move is to talk to us before booking — or not book.
- These terms apply to the website and to visits at the venue.
- Poker room participation has extra rules — section 04 covers the felt.
- We can update terms; the current version always lives here.
Ninety percent of these terms exist so the other ten percent — the fun parts like poker nights and private hire — run smoothly for everyone.
02 Venue access & age policy
The dining room welcomes all ages until 20:00. The Green Felt Room — our poker room — is strictly 18+ at all times, no exceptions, no matter how mature your nephew is.
- Photo ID is required for any poker activity — checked at the door and at the felt.
- We can refuse entry or service where the law or good sense requires it.
- Published hours can shift for private events and public holidays — the contacts page always shows current info.

03 Bookings & cancellations
Book a table through the site, by email, or by phone — we confirm every reservation personally. Same goes for poker seats: a request isn't a seat until we confirm it.
- Tables are held 15 minutes past booking time — call if you're running late.
- Cancellations are free up to 24 hours out; poker tournament buy-ins are refundable until 48 hours before cards go in the air.
- No-shows two weeks running may lose booking privileges — the waitlist is real and so is the disappointment.
- Large groups and private poker hires carry their own confirmation terms, set out in your event agreement.
04 Poker room terms
The Green Felt Room runs social, in-person poker — dealer-hosted Texas Hold'em and structured tournaments. To be completely clear: Joysola is not an online casino or betting platform, and no poker here happens on screens.
- The dealer's ruling is final on every poker hand — argue politely, accept, move on.
- Buy-ins are paid at the venue; there is no online staking, transfer or remote entry into any poker game.
- Collusion, chip dumping, or marking cards ends your poker night — and your membership of the room.
- Tournament structures, blind levels and leaderboard points are published before every poker event.
- We may ask any player to leave the felt for conduct reasons — being gracious in defeat is genuinely required.
The short version
Play fair, tip your dealer if they earned it, don't be the person who makes poker night awkward. The poker page has the friendly version of all this.
05 Responsible play
Poker at Joysola is entertainment, not income. By buying into any poker night you confirm you're 18+, playing with money you can afford to lose, and playing because it's fun.
- Self-exclusion is available anytime — ask the poker room manager or email us, no judgement attached.

- Our team can refuse a poker buy-in where a guest appears distressed or impaired — that's care, not judgement.
The best poker nights end with everyone coming back next week. Anything that threatens that is a problem we'll help fix.
06 Prices & payment
All prices on this site are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Menus, poker buy-ins and event pricing can change — the number you confirmed at booking is the number you pay.
- We accept cards, cash and bank transfer for private events.
- Poker buy-ins are paid in person at the venue — never online, never by phone.
- Deposits for private hire are set out in your event agreement.
07 Conduct, property & liability
Look after the room and each other. Guests are responsible for damage they cause — to the felt, the furniture or someone's evening. Personal belongings are your responsibility; the cloakroom is free and honestly worth using.
To the extent NZ law allows, Joysola isn't liable for indirect losses — like a poker hand that didn't go your way, a ride that didn't arrive, or a website glitch. Our liability for anything that is our fault is limited to the amount you paid us for the relevant service.
- Photos at the table are fine — not of other players' cards or people who'd rather not be in them.
- Intoxicated guests won't be served or seated at poker.
- No smoking indoors; terrace has a designated spot.
08 Using this website
The site exists to show you the menu, the poker schedule and how to book. Use it like that and we're square.
- Content — text, design, photos once loaded, the Joysola name — is ours or licensed to us; don't lift it for your own site.
- Don't scrape, hammer, or try to break the site — the poker leaderboard isn't a hacking challenge.
- We aim for accuracy but menus and poker schedules move — the venue's word beats a stale page.

09 Changes & how to reach us
Terms get updated when the venue changes — new poker formats, new booking rules, legal tidy-ups. The date at the top always shows the current version, and material changes get flagged on site before they apply.
